Flathead businesses recruit winter airline service

Flathead Valley businesses have little trouble enticing visitors in the summer with Glacier National Park trails and area lakes beckoning. Such tourist draws have attracted commercial airlines to provide summer seasonal flights to Glacier International Airport.
But recently the Flathead County development authority and several business and tourism groups put together a $240,000 revenue guarantee to help persuade United Airlines to start once-a-week direct flights in the winter from Chicago to the Kalispell area airport to help boost skiing numbers at Whitefish Mountain.
