The walls and book shelves in Brock Tessman’s office are mostly bare after six weeks in his new job, a stark contrast to predecessor Waded Cruzado, who amassed 15 years of memorabilia — much of it sports-related — during her transformative tenure as Montana State University’s president.

The sparseness of Tessman’s new digs in Montana Hall are no doubt a reflection of a man who, befitting his collegiate cross-country past, has hit the ground running. It’s also, perhaps, a reveal that he’s a de facto bachelor, his wife and two daughters still temporarily in Marquette, Michigan, where he was Northern Michigan University’s president for two years before “coming home”.
