Everyone should write a resume of failure

In my executive coaching practice, I do something unusual. Before I meet with an executive for the first time, I ask him or her to prepare a written resume for me to review. When we get together in person, we review it and then I ask the question: "Do you also have a resume of failure?"

Blank stare.

"What do you mean?"
