Sharon Stewart Peregoy, a Democrat from Crow Agency, discusses bias in Montana’s legislature and how she works to make her voice heard.
A Democrat from Crow Agency and chair of Montana’s American Indian Caucus, Rep. Sharon Stewart Peregoy has earned the nickname “legislative warrior.”
She’s sponsored five bills, which aim to combat the crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous people, expand voting rights for Native Americans and revise corporation laws. She’s also expressed opposition to bills she and her colleagues say threaten tribal sovereignty or encroach on Indigenous voting rights.
