Commuters leave driving to the state

For some, it was the gas prices inching to $3 per gallon.

For others it was the dread of skating their cars over black ice on dark wintry mornings.

Whatever the motivation, there’s one happy bus of commuters coming from Butte and Boulder to Helena four mornings a week, and they’d love to have more company.

Boulder resident Dorianne Woods, who works at a downtown Helena law firm, is content to leave the driving to someone else.

She had a car accident in July and is relieved she’s not white knuckling it over Boulder Hill this week. Nor does she worry now about deer launching themselves into the roadway.

Instead, she sits back in her seat on the Tucker Transportation bus and admires the scenery out her window or reads a book. “It’s nice to get to work and not be so stressed out,” she said.
