City looks to form citizen task forces to address Missoula climate goals

Missoula’s city staff who work on energy and climate initiatives are looking to form short-term citizen task forces to help push forward goals of reducing the city’s carbon footprint, using only clean energy and other priorities.
Members of the city’s four-person Climate and Sustainability Team continue to work on long-term goals to reduce the impacts of climate change, according to an update to city council in early February.
The team has now partnered with national nonprofit Local Policy Lab, at no cost to the city, to form a series of citizen task forces to work toward city climate goals. Previously, the city supported a volunteer energy and climate team, but dissolved the group last year to save administrative costs.
