About the Program

The CEO in the startup phase is the chief player. As the company launches and transitions to its Growth Phase the successful CEO must transition to become the Coach.

“The CEO Playbook” focuses on the challenges of accelerating an organization that is in the Growth Stage of its business cycle. The intent of the playbook is to provide tools, thoughts and techniques for the CEO (and the “C” level management team) transitioning from a hands-on, do everything player role to the role of a Coach with responsibilities to guide the team, provide management direction and be the bridge between players and the Board of Directors.

The CEO Playbook event presents the best plays based on the real world experience of industry experts. A Keynote Speaker from The National Venture Capital Association will define the current marketplace for growth companies seeking financing. The event culminates with the on stage execution of a mock negotiation of a VC term sheet to finance company expansion, every CEO’s defining play.

Choosing the sports analogy to focus the message of this event seems appropriate. All sports develop strategic/tactical offensive and defensive plays. All sports have similar constituents – Crew (players, coaches, support personnel), Customers (fans, suppliers), Community (corporate stewardship, public relations, charity), and Capital (Investors, retained earnings, strategic partners).

We believe presenting the best plays, based on real world experiences of business experts in a sports context, will help attendees retain and later use the information gained at the event.
