Bozeman, Montana Airport Launches $200 Million Terminal Expansion – Public open house is scheduled for April 16, 2026
Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport is investing $200 million to expand its terminal and considering a second commercial runway.
The airport is currently undergoing a three-phase terminal expansion along its north side, adding five new gates and three baggage claim areas to handle growing passenger volumes. This structural enhancement aims to accommodate larger aircraft and seasonal peaks that reach up to 7,500 departing passengers in summer, compared to daily counts around 2,200. CEO Brian Sprenger emphasized that the parallel runway, now limited to small aircraft, will be upgraded to full air carrier standards, and a second large runway is proposed pending environmental review.
A public open house is scheduled for April 16, 2026, to solicit community input on the runway plans, with sections of the expanded terminal possibly opening by fall 2026. Runway construction could commence within two years, contingent on the environmental assessment covering historical, wildlife, noise, and traffic impacts.
