Blackfeet Community College Forgives $1 Million in Student Debt thanks to an unrestricted $8 million donation from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott

The financial costs of going to college can be a barrier for many trying to pursue higher education. Leadership at Blackfeet Community College is making that one less thing students have to worry about this year by eliminating $1.16 million in student debt.

The forgiveness was made possible thanks to an unrestricted $8 million donation from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott last year, the largest gift in the college’s history. The college’s Board of Trustees voted to use $1,167,108.90 of that donation to wipe out eligible student debt.
