Probably unlikely, but the popular day-trip destinations for Missoula-area residents are among the public federal lands eligible to be sold under a proposal working through the U.S. Senate.

The upper chamber is expected to vote this week on its version of its massive spending and tax-cuts bill — the “Big Beautiful Bill Act” — that currently includes language to sell off federal lands “solely for development of housing or to address associated community needs.”
