Area Code Needed for Local Montana Calls Starting This Month

Some seven-digit phone numbers in Montana’s 406 area code begin with 988. To prevent misdialing the 988 Lifeline, all local calls in Montana must be dialed with the area code.

    This sounds like a very stupid decision by the “suits”. How many numbers in Montana start with 988. So instead of changing those numbers, they’re going to force everyone to add 406 to every call. Just think how this will impact everyone’s contact list etc. I’d sure like to hear from whomever made this “call” so they can explain their reasoning. What am I missing?
