Airbnb Launches Grocery Delivery for Guests Before Arrival

Airbnb now lets guests order groceries up to three weeks before arrival.

The company launched a new grocery delivery feature powered by Instacart, aiming to streamline guest arrivals by allowing pre-arrival grocery orders through Airbnb’s platform. This service changes the traditional check-in routine by integrating food provisioning directly into the rental experience.

Available in about 25 U.S. cities, guests can order groceries starting three weeks before check-in and throughout their stay. When offered, kitchen stocking comes at no additional cost, Airbnb said. Some hosts voluntarily offer to stock the kitchen at no extra cost, although alcohol cannot be stocked by hosts due to legal restrictions; guests may order alcohol themselves after check-in. A promotional deal currently offers $0 delivery and $10 off orders above $50 in select areas through June 30.

Guests interested in this convenience can take advantage of the promotion before it expires at the end of June.

While Montana is not among the initial cities included, this feature could appeal to visitors in the state’s growing short-term rental market who value convenience in remote or rural locations. Montana hosts might potentially consider adopting similar services to enhance guest satisfaction, especially where local grocery access is limited or travel time is significant.

This is great. Hosts can post what they will supply and guests can check items off of their “must have” list and order what’s missing. Makes moving to a new place so much easier. I do hope hosts won’t see this as a revenue generator.
