‘1923’ production brings millions of dollars to Butte

The filming of season one of the “Yellowstone” prequel “1923” has wrapped up in the Mining City, but the economic impact is still being calculated.

At a City-County Commission meeting on Wednesday, a producer for the hit show debriefed local leaders about the influx of cash coming to the area and thanked them for their support.

A 2022 study conducted by BBER found “Yellowstone” contributed significantly to the state’s economy, but when the more recent study was extended to include the impact of visitor spending, these effects changed dramatically, according to Patrick Barkey, director of BBER.
