Executive Leadership Opportunity | Montana-Based Credit Union
Position Summary
The Vice President of Retail Services is a strategic and transformational leader responsible for the overall direction, performance, and operational excellence of the Credit Union’s retail branch network and member-facing sales and business development initiatives. Reporting directly to the CEO, this executive will lead retail operations across a growing organization serving communities throughout Montana.
Guided by the Credit Union’s mission, promise, and core values, the VP of Retail Services will foster a high-performing, relationship-focused retail culture centered on operational excellence, leadership development, sustainable growth, and community impact. This role is responsible for ensuring consistent service delivery, strengthening branch performance, developing future leaders, improving operational effectiveness, and supporting long-term organizational success.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative, hands-on executive who leads with integrity, develops people intentionally, and understands the importance of balancing strategic leadership with genuine community connection and member advocacy.
This role offers the opportunity to directly influence organizational strategy, operational transformation, leadership development, and the future growth of the Credit Union.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Operations
- Lead and oversee all retail branch operations and member-facing sales initiatives.
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team to execute strategic priorities focused on operational excellence, sustainable growth, and member experience.
- Drive operational efficiency through process improvement, workflow optimization, and accountability standards.
- Utilize KPIs, reporting, and operational metrics to improve branch performance and decision-making.
- Lead organizational change initiatives by influencing culture, driving adoption, and aligning teams with strategic goals.
Leadership Development & Culture
- Recruit, coach, develop, and retain high-performing branch leaders and retail teams as needed.
- Build a culture centered on accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
- Support succession planning and leadership development initiatives that strengthen organizational bench strength.
- Maintain a visible leadership presence throughout branch locations and communities served.
Member Experience & Growth
- Champion a consistent, high-quality member experience across all branch locations.
- Promote a consultative, relationship-focused approach to service and business development.
- Support sustainable membership, deposit, and loan growth through strong community relationships and local market engagement.
- Monitor member feedback and service trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and operational procedures.
- Maintain strong operational controls related to branch operations, fraud prevention, security, and risk management.
- Partner with auditors, examiners, and internal stakeholders to support regulatory and operational requirements.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Finance, Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated success leading multi-branch retail operations and improving operational performance.
- Strong understanding of retail banking operations, member service delivery, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience leading organizational change and operational transformation initiatives.
Preferred
- Proven ability to influence culture, develop leaders, and drive operational improvement.
- Experience collaborating directly with executive leadership and boards.
- 5–10 years of progressive leadership experience in retail banking or credit union operations.

Work Environment & Travel
Regular travel between branch locations and communities within the Credit Union’s service area is expected. Occasional evening and weekend community or organizational events may be required.
