New technology may help builders. Sewage system may spur rural development

Skyrocketing land costs in the Treasure Valley means home builders will increasingly have to look for development opportunities in rural areas, an industry observer told southwestern Idaho contractors this week.
Land costs can exceed $100,000 an acre in the Boise and Meridian areas of impact, said Thomas Fassino, development analyst with Kastera Homes, after addressing the Building Contractors Association of Southwest Idaho this week.
