Missing the mark: University of Montana falls short of carbon reduction goal
February 5, 2015 /
A new report shows the University of Montana has reduced its carbon emission by 8.5 percent, falling short of the 2015 goal of 10 percent.
In 2010, former University President George Dennison signed a ten-year commitment to make UM carbon neutral by 2020. According to a report from the campus office of sustainability, UM missed the 2015 mark by 1.5 percent. However, to meet the larger goal, campus emissions must be reduced by over 90 percent in the next five years.
