Lt. Governor Cooney, Director Haxby-Cote Celebrate Homeownership with Helena’s Habitat for Humanity
Lieutenant Governor Mike Cooney and Commerce Director Pam Haxby-Cote today marked a milestone alongside a Helena family on the completion of their rehabilitated home funded in-part by Habitat for Humanity and the Montana Board of Housing.
The Bixby family will move into the home after Habitat staff and volunteers spent nearly 860 hours rehabbing it. After years as renters, the family will be able to purchase their like-new home with a low-interest mortgage through the Montana Board of Housing.
"Becoming a homeowner gives us a sense of relief, security, and peace of mind for the future of our kids," Holly Bixby said. "Don’t ever give up; be patient and persistent until the end. You’ll learn a lot about yourself along the way."
