Entrepreneurs: Good experience with company spurs own business in Montana
You’ve seen the commercial where the guy liked the product so much he bought the company.
It’s sort of like that for Tom Thayer.
Several years ago, he hired a company Phil Morgan was working for to build him a metal building. He later hired Morgan to add on to the building, because "you never make your building big enough the first time," Thayer said.
That addition project didn’t go very well. Third-party vendors sent the wrong materials and there were delays.
Still, Thayer was impressed with Morgan.
"He kept in constant contact with me," Thayer said. "He came back out to the job site, had the metal picked up, again explained how he was going to make it right for me, and then that’s what he did, he made it right."
When Morgan and a co-worker, Dan Lundin, began thinking about starting their own business, they casually mentioned it to Thayer. And, Thayer just happened to be looking for a business to invest in.
