Boise Venture Capital firm Highway 12 adds new part owner to help funded firms build relationships with govt. agencies

Retired U.S. Navy Adm. Archie Clemins has joined the Boise venture capital firm Highway 12 Ventures as a "venture partner," the firm announced Tuesday.

Clemins will use his government experience to help companies funded by Highway 12 build relationships with government agencies. As a venture partner, he will be a part owner of the firm.

"The breadth and depth of Archie’s background makes him an incredibly sought-after resource for technology companies, both large and small, that have business opportunities in the government," said Mark Solon, the firm’s managing general partner. "Having Archie on board as Venture Partner is a tremendous asset to Highway 12’s portfolio companies."

Highway 12 Ventures Announces Retired Navy Admiral Archie Clemins Joins Firm as Venture Partner

Former Commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet adds valuable alliance building skills within the Government sector

Boise, Idaho – January 06, 2005 – Highway 12 Ventures announced today that Retired U.S. Navy Admiral Archie Clemins has joined the firm as Venture Partner. For the last three years Mr. Clemins has been a Highway 12 Ventures Advisory Board member working closely with several portfolio companies. As Venture Partner, he will continue to provide strategic insights and help build relationships for those portfolio companies doing business in the government sector.

After a long and distinguished Navy career that culminated as Commander in Chief of the U. S. Pacific Fleet, Mr. Clemins brings a thorough understanding of government agencies and operations. His specialty is alliance building, with a focus on business opportunities within the Government, where commercial technology presents optimum enterprise solutions.

Archie and his wife Marilyn reside in Boise, Idaho, where he is founder and President of Caribou Technologies, Inc., an international consulting firm whose clients include several Fortune 500 companies: Microsoft, IBM, Cisco, General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems (GDAIS), Boeing, and Science Application International Corporation (SAIC). Mr. Clemins serves on the Board of Directors for Global Crossing, Extended Systems, Healthwise, and The Software Revolution. Additionally he is on the Governor’s Science and Technology Advisory Board for the State of Idaho. He holds his Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois.
