Anacortes, WA business thrives after couple cuts hours

To look at the dozens of customers lined up for a sale at The Mercantile, you wouldn’t know there once was a time when the owners, Beth and Craig Clark, considered selling their building.

But their experience 15 years ago of putting the Commercial Avenue building on the market helped the Clarks find their unusual retail niche. The Mercantile only opens for business every three weeks and for only two days, Friday and Saturday.
