Missoula mapping tech firm onXmaps to build new three-story building, add scores of workers

A mapping technology company is planning on constructing a new $2.36 million, three-story building in central Missoula with projections of adding roughly 56 new employees in the next two years.

The firm, onXmaps http://www.onxmaps.com , is currently located at 1925 Brooks Street. Owner Eric Siegfried recently purchased adjacent property, the former Mel’s Used Car’s location at 1900 Stephens, to accommodate the rapidly expanding business. The company creates chips with maps that show land ownership combined with topography for use in handheld GPS units.

Missoula tech firm looks to expand with new Midtown office building

A Missoula-based digital mapping company has purchased an adjacent property on Stephens Avenue, where it plans to construct a new $2.3 million office building to accommodate its growing number of employees.

To do so, onXmaps is seeking $291,000 in tax increment financing from the Missoula Redevelopment Agency to raze several small structures at what formerly housed Mel’s Used Cars, and to bring modern water and sewer utilities to the property.
