Progress reported in master plan for downtown Missoula

A volunteer committee closely aligned with the Missoula Downtown Association offered its annual update Wednesday on the city’s Downtown Master Plan http://www.missouladowntown.com/about/downtown-master-plan/ , detailing the steps taken to achieve the document’s goals.

On the upside, the district’s retail sector continues to grow, Caras Park hosted more visitors, and a long-awaited study found that a downtown conference center was both feasible and economically sensible.

But several goals within the plan also remain unfilled, including increased downtown housing and finding new tenants to occupy the vacant Missoula Mercantile and the Federal Building.
