Idaho Biomedical group awards 43 fellowships

The Idaho Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network has awarded fellowships to 43 undergraduates currently enrolled in colleges and universities across Idaho.

The awarded fellows will spend 10 weeks this summer on the campuses of Idaho State University, the University of Idaho or Boise State University. They will do research guided by experienced research scientists, attend seminar presentations and present their research in a professional setting at the annual BRIN research conference in Boise in August.

The Idaho BRIN is funded by an $8 million, three-year grant from the National Centers for Research Resources of the National Institutes of Health. The grant was awarded to the U of I in cooperation with ISU and BSU.

This award supports cooperation among the three universities to enhance opportunities for Idaho´s faculty as well as undergraduate and graduate students to perform biomedical research.The Idaho BRIN Undergraduate Summer Fellowship Program, is now in its second summer. Students receiving BRIN grants are:

* Idaho State — Jordan Adams, Jessica Blake, Nicholas Clark, Jinsil Kim, Michael Leudeman, Melissa Mott, Travis Nielsen, Presha Rajbhandari, Madeline Richie, Pahresha Roominay, Asem Sarameh and Kristyn Shaw.

* Boise State University — Jennifer Cole, Mathew Elliott, Theodora Caldwell, Ethan Fry, Ayush Goyal, Amber Hibberd, Seth Kuhlman, Saro Pegg, Nicole Richardson and Amanda Rogow.

* University of Idaho — Sarah Hoffman, Hannah Knecht, Richard Knight, Jacob Pierson, Thomas Plocher, Erica Raterman, Christina Rea, Sheri Wardwell, Matt Weigand, Julia Wiliams and Eugene Yockey.

* Albertson College of Idaho — Kencee Amyx, Amanda Gluch and Ashley Kunz.

* Lewis-Clark State College — Justin Cochrane, Steven Kennedy and Sara Lorenz.

* Brigham Young University, Idaho — Michael Hill, Amanda Stewart and Brad Wynn.

* Northwest Nazarene University — Elizabeth Figueredo.
