The Montana Board of Regents defend selection of former board chair as higher ed commissioner

The Montana Board of Regents’ http://mus.edu/board/ decision that Clayton Christian is the man they want for one of the highest-paying jobs in state government has been made without publicly advertising the job, notifying the public of his candidacy, or requiring a Ph.D. or a resume.

The board announced Dec. 22 that they had reached consensus in a closed executive session that Christian is the person they want as Montana’s next commissioner of higher education. Christian was regents chairman until he resigned Dec. 16.
