Grant Opportunity for Montana Communities

Please note the Request for Proposal from the Orton Family Foundation, open to Montana communities under 30,000 population (they will be competing with communities in Colorado, Idaho and Wyoming as well as Montana). If you can distribute this to members of your organizations, that would be appreciated.

The Orton Family Foundation invites proposals from small cities and towns committed to planning for a future that preserves and enhances their "heart and soul"–those places, people and customs that make them unique. The Foundation will select four communities, two in New England and two in the northern Rocky Mountain West. Each selected community will receive training, technical assistance and up to $100,000 in supporting funds over two years.

We have personally worked with this foundation for many years and would be happy to assist and advise Montana communities that would be interested in developing a proposal. This is the second round of grants, the first went to Victor, Idaho and Golden, Colorado. Note there are several conference calls scheduled over the next few months for more information.
