An affiliate of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce http://www.denverchamber.org/ , is the nation’s first and only truly regional
economic development entity in which many area economic development groups have joined together
to represent, and further, the interests of an entire region. Our partners include 70 cities, counties and
economic development organizations in the seven-county Metro Denver and two-county Northern
Colorado region.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Marketing Specialist will assist with all marketing initiatives. Primary
responsibilities include writing and editing content for the organization’s website, publications, and
miscellaneous marketing/communications materials. Will assist with a variety of marketing functions,
events and trade shows.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Writing and editing
Will be responsible for generating story ideas and writing/editing articles for the website,
e-newsletters, publications and marketing/communications materials. Must have interviewing experience. Must be highly detail-oriented and able to proof own work with a high level of accuracy.

Web site maintenance
Will be responsible for website content and maintenance, including update of Excel spreadsheets, PDFs and graphics. Must have experience editing/troubleshooting HTML code and optimizing graphics, photos and logos in Adobe Photoshop. Must have experience with all facets of Web site maintenance.

Graphic Design/Photography
Must have intermediate graphic design skills (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign a must) to assist with the production of signage, invitations, PowerPoint presentations and proposals. Must possess basic photography skills.

Research
Must have experience in conducting research using the Internet. Will assist staff with research for publications, media kits, prospect/business proposals and investor communications.

Event/Meeting Assistance
Will schedule meetings; prepare agendas, and setup meeting space for project/consultant/ committee meetings. Will prepare summary notes and develop project schedules. Will assist with special events such as Annual Report to Investors, Site Selection Conference and Economic Briefings.

Media Monitoring
Will monitor local newspapers and online sources – filing and distributing stories related to the Metro Denver EDC, economic development, industries, real estate and the economy.

Social Media
Will assist with the organization’s social media efforts by updating existing media channels and integrating outreach with ongoing marketing activities. Examples of social media include: Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, Blogs and YouTube.

General Project Assistance
Will assist the Director of Marketing with all marketing initiatives, providing general assistance including database administration, response to general requests and project filing. Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required in Journalism, Communications or Marketing

EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years experience in a corporate communications or agency environment.
Demonstrated experience in economic/business development is preferred.

SKILLS: Must possess excellent writing and editing skills and be highly skilled in
graphic design and image editing software. Applicant should be creative and
be able to carry out various tasks and priorities and meet multiple deadlines.
Must excel in deadline-driven environment.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: PC, AV, equipment, digital SLR camera, fax, copier, scanner, phone
system.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Normal business office environment. Must be able to travel efficiently to off-site meeting locations throughout the state; must also be able to travel out of state as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Position requires flexibility to work hours for meetings inside and
outside of the Metro Denver EDC/Chamber. Must be able to interact
well with others. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
