Two Montana firms, CTA Architects Engineers and Clinton Contract Services win big federal stimulus contracts for border ports

Montana firms are winning federal stimulus contracts to rebuild border ports, proving they can compete if given the chance.

"I’ve always said if Montana companies compete on their merits, they’ll win," Sen. Jon Tester http://tester.senate.gov/ , D-Mont., said Monday.

Tester was at the center of a political storm three months ago, when it appeared federal stimulus work in Montana would be handled by large multinationals based out of state. Officials at U.S. Customs and Border Protection insisted speed was critical, and using preapproved firms would hasten construction.

Montana-based CTA Architects Engineers http://www.ctagroup.com/ won a $7.5 million contract for a border port north of Malta, as well as contracts for two more facilities in North Dakota; and J. Clinton Contract Services http://www.jclinton.com/ , of Circle, secured an $8 million contract for a port north of Havre, and a $6.6 million contract for the port at Scobey.
