Hamilton, Montana offers support to reactivate a passenger train service to Missoula

Ravalli County commuters won’t be hearing “all aboard” any time soon, but a proposal to reactivate a passenger train service to Missoula has gotten another endorsement.

Hamilton City Council on Dec. 16 unanimously passed a resolution supporting a Bitterroot rail transit line, becoming the second community in the county to support the idea.

Darby City Council offered its support in September. Hamilton United Businesses, a group of downtown merchants, also has given its backing.

“I think it’s good any time we can take pressure off our highways,” Mayor Jerry Steele said.
