“Here’s my idea on where we "the Republican Party" are going to go,” State Senator Rick Laible, R-Darby http://leg.mt.gov/css/sessions/60th/ ... LAWSID=1401 , said this week. “Our students and our education system are not liabilities; they’re our assets.”
He believes his party should better represent the educational community n the school districts, teachers, administrators and the students and their families.
At last weekend’s 2008 Winter Kickoff gathering in Billings, Laible said, “we talked about changing scholarships so that all kids could be eligible.” Currently, scholarships are directed at the top-achieving students and a few underprivileged students, he said.

They are our future leaders, our innovators and the entrepreneurs we'll soon be reading about but they need our full support. Congratulations to Sen. Laible. I hope that everyone will embrace the concept that education is the first, middle and last aspect of everything that makes and will make Montana great. Thank you Senator Laible. You give me hope for this state. Since Gov Schweitzer doesn't seem to want to be a leader on improving education in Montana, maybe I will become a Republican. Just please don't appoint Rep Jore as the Chair of the House Education Committee again. --Anne
