IsoRay to set up operations in Eastern Idaho: Deal may pave way for cluster of other nuclear medicine companies

A medical products company hoping to develop an important treatment for cancer agreed Wednesday to locate some of its operation in Pocatello within two years, paving the way for a possible cluster of nuclear medical companies to locate in the city.

Ray Burstedt, executive director of the Pocatello Development Authority and Bannock Development Corp., said he sees the decision by Washington-based IsoRay Medical as holding promise for Eastern Idaho.

“There’s a lot of people waiting to see if this works,” Burstedt said of an impending test at a reactor at the Idaho National Laboratory.
