New West Wins Two Online Journalism Awards

We’re thrilled to report that New West http://www.newwest.net was named the winner of two Online Journalism Awards at a ceremony in New York on Saturday. Hal Herring’s gripping six-part series Sex, Money and Meth Addiction: Inside the World of the Dasen Girls was the winner in the Enterprise Journalism category for small publications, and New West was the winner for General Excellence among small publications. We’re in good company – the other big winners tonight were the New York Times and Slate – and we couldn’t be happier. Thanks to all of you for your support.

NYtimes.com snags three ONA awards

NYTimes.com took three Online News Association Awards at the organization’s sixth annual celebration of the best in online journalism. The site won in the categories of general excellence, breaking news and outstanding use of multiple media for large sites.

“As we good as we are we must continue to get better, all of us. We’ve got to get there before Yahoo! And before Google gets there,” quipped Len Apcar, editor-in-chief of NYTimes.com

NewWest.net received two awards: enterprise and general excellence for small sites. NewWest, a news site devoted to covering the Rocky Mountain West, has been in existence for only eight months.
