Home Town Competitiveness (HTC) earned the 2004 Innovative Program Award from the International Community Development Society. HTC is a “come-back/give-back” approach that focuses on four pillars of rural community building: Mobilizing Local Leaders, Energizing Entrepreneurship, Engaging and Attracting Young People, and Capturing Wealth Transfer.

Last year, HTC was featured in the Chronicle of Philanthropy and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation’s report, “Mapping Rural Entrepreneurship.” Rural practitioners across the nation are calling HTC the best on-the-ground development model for today’s rural communities. Trainers and co-sponsors are the Heartland Center for Leadership Development, the Nebraska Community Foundation and the RUPRI Center for Rural Entrepreneurship. For more information contact
