The system will:
* Allow state agencies access to up-to-date emergency contact information for each of the participating states;
* Allow state agencies to access detailed information in other participating states, such as data from Roadside Weather Information Systems stations or Dynamic Message System messages;
* Allow state agencies to obtain detailed information on road closures and restrictions, including information that would not be accessible to the public;
* Allow state agencies to exchange information and requests, such as a request to display a particular message on a Dynamic Message System;
* Provide Web-based regional highway maps displaying all alerts and hazards for motor carriers and automobile drivers.
$2,100,000 is needed to fully develop the system. $350,000 has been committed as of October 18, 2004.
