Wyoming doesn’t make FutureGen cut

Wyoming has been cut from a list of prospective sites to host the world’s first ever zero-emissions coal-fueled power plant.

The FutureGen Industrial Alliance announced on Tuesday that it selected two sites in Illinois and two sites in Texas for its "short-list." The alliance is expected to make a final site decision late next year.

Alliance officials said the site selection process is based on specific geological and technical criteria, including access to underground storage of carbon dioxide emissions.
