What is Physical AI and how is it driving cross-industry transformation?

Physical AI is advancing rapidly, enabling autonomous systems to operate in the real world. A humanoid robot recently breaking a half-marathon record in Beijing signals accelerating capability. Beyond humanoids, impact spans logistics, manufacturing, healthcare and transport, where robots already operate at scale. As sensing, simulation and AI improve, and manipulation advances, systems are moving into complex environments, driving cross-industry transformation.

 

These robot dogs are helping to manage forests in the UK

These robots are being used to build detailed maps of forests, with the aim of improving management and conservation. They have been developed as part of the DigiForest project, which involves Oxford Robotics Institute and partners across Europe.
