Walking on the Wild Side of a Montana University

The opportunity to observe wildlife in its natural state draws students from around the world to study at the University of Montana.
The University of Montana http://www.umt.edu/ is a wild place.
Sitting at his desk, Mark Hebblewhite, an assistant professor of wildlife biology, can tell with a radio if any elk have tripped the transmitter-equipped trap just a few miles from here, on the edge of town. Not long ago a cougar was spotted on campus. And, Mr. Hebblewhite says, gesturing out the window, “there’s wolves about four kilometers that way.”
