University of Montana College of Business Ranks In Top 15 Percent Nationally

College of Business

The UM College of Business earned the No. 89 spot among public undergraduate business programs and No. 149 overall, highlighting its competitive stature within the Big Sky Conference and beyond. This ranking illustrates structural growth and academic recognition significant for regional institutions.

The ranking, announced in October 2026, derives from the 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Rankings. UM’s College of Business offers eight undergraduate majors, including two recently introduced programs in cybersecurity and entertainment, events and sports management. Enrollment has risen annually over the past five years, and 94% of alumni are employed or in graduate school within six months of graduation. Suzanne Tilleman, the college’s dean, emphasized that this recognition reflects ongoing accomplishments by faculty, staff, and students.

For Montana, this ranking may bolster retention of local students who seek a reputable business education without leaving the state. It could also attract out-of-state students drawn to Missoula’s quality of life and emerging academic programs, potentially influencing workforce development and economic diversification in the region.
