TDS hooks up 1,000th customer to fiber-optic internet service, more work ahead

TDS Telecommunications has reached another milestone on its all-fiber internet project in Butte, connecting its 1,000th customer to high-speed internet.

Butte educators Don Peoples Jr. and his wife, Barb, were among five customers hooked up on Sept. 12 that pushed the number past 1,000 so they were given a gift basket and recognition as the 1,000th customer at a recent Butte Central football game, TDS officials said.
