As an economic development professional serving southeastern Montana for the past 25 years, I can honestly say I have never been more excited about the future of southeastern Montana than I am today. Why? Well, throughout my career, I’ve learned that successful communities don’t happen by accident. They are built through long-term partnerships, proactive planning, and investments that position a region for future growth. All that is occurring now in southeastern Montana, but significant challenges do remain.

Economic developers around the state spend a great deal of time dealing with workforce, housing, broadband, and community infrastructure. These issues matter because businesses ask about them before deciding where to invest or whether they can even stay. But another question has become just as important: Can your community provide reliable, affordable energy?
