Southwest Airlines to Bring New Flights to Bozeman, Tester Announces

Southwest to offer nonstop service to and from Denver, Las Vegas

(U.S. Senate) – U.S. Senator Jon Tester today announced that Southwest Airlines will add two new routes to Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport, the first Montana airport serviced by Southwest. Launching in May 2021, Southwest Airlines will offer nonstop service to and from Denver (DEN) and Las Vegas (LAS) to Bozeman (BZN).

“These new routes are welcome news for folks looking to experience the magic of Big Sky Country, and will give Montanans more flexibility when it comes to their travel plans,” said Tester. “Bringing more direct flights to Montana will create jobs, boost our tourism industry, and bolster local economies.”

Tester is Montana’s only member of the Senate Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over air travel. Earlier today, Senator Tester secured a spot on the Aviation Safety, Operations, and Innovation Subcommittee.

Tester has fought tirelessly to bring more business to Montana’s transportation and tourism industries, and even secured a commitment from Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to prioritize transportation investments in rural America. As airports continue to struggle to keep up with costs after the COVID-19 pandemic drastically reduced air travel, Tester secured $74 million through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act for more than 70 Montana airports to cover operation expenses, staffing, and development projects.
