We have now learned which Army base will receive the Solar Road Panels and we’re excited about it! It’s actually more of a research center – where the Army researches solutions for coping with cold weather. It’s called the Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory in Hanover, New Hampshire. We visited them this month, fulfilling the first step in our contract. We learned that they look for transformative infrastructure solutions, particularly for use in cold climates for both military and civil applications.
They also work in Alaska and the Arctic. They are interested in the heating ability of our intelligent infrastructure product. We’ll be installing panels on a pedestrian walkway where many of their staff have slipped. This will enable them to experience and test our panels during New Hampshire winters.
Their mission: Deliver vital engineering solutions, in collaboration with our partners, to secure our Nation, energize our economy and reduce disaster risk. They also provide “cutting edge solutions for Army installations, training ranges and contingency basing, particularly in the areas of environmental sustainability sand energy security”. A great match for Solar Roadways.
They tell us our panels will be seen by all the military leaders who visit as well. Our hope is that this will lead to installations at numerous other bases.
