Smart and networked street lighting could reduce energy use

Governments and councils can establish an open, standards-based IP network linking various infrastructure, from energy to public lighting to traffic light systems to disaster sensors.

This would allow cities to cost-effectively deploy new smart infrastructure services over time, claims the company.

In particular, smart street lighting can help reduce energy consumption, and also lower maintenance costs associated with ageing street lighting infrastructure.
