SCC to be Awarded Over $15,000 for Student Grants

(HELENA) Student Assistance Foundation (SAF), a nonprofit Montana organization, will award Stone Child College (SCC) a grant for $15,364 at an informal awards presentation on Wednesday, July 19, in Box Elder. The presentation will take place at 9:00 a.m. on the SCC campus. Financial Aid Director Joe LaFromboise will be present to accept the award from Libby Siebens, SAF community outreach manager.

The SCC award is part of a $1.1 million Acce$$ grant package provided by SAF to Montana’s colleges and universities this year. Acce$$ (pronounced "access") grants are awarded each year by SAF to Montana’s post-secondary financial aid offices. Financial aid officers use the grants to help students with unmet financial needs continue their education. Award amounts vary by individual need and are determined by the financial aid offices. The funds are educational grants and are gifted to students. They do not require repayment.

Since its inception in 1999, SAF has awarded $20,291 in Acce$$ grants to SCC and over $3.3 million to Montana’s colleges and universities.
