Reception celebrates Wyoming writers behind new movie ‘An Unfinished Life’
No limousine brought Mark Spragg and Virginia Korus Spragg to Wyoming’s movie premiere of "An Unfinished Life" Saturday – they came in their Subaru.
The screenplay writers are Wyoming, the story is Wyoming, and although the Miramax film glitters with famous Hollywood actors like Robert Redford, Morgan Freeman and Jennifer Lopez, they have a hometown crowd to please, they said.
"This is one crowd I really don’t want to disappoint," Mark Spragg said of the 300 or so people gathered at the pre-showing reception at Cody’s Irma Hotel.
"We know everyone here," Virginia Spragg said. "We won’t know anyone in New York."
Cody got a sneak peek of the film Saturday, beating out New York City’s Sept. 7 showing and the Sept. 9 world premiere.
Filmed in Kamloops, Canada, the story is set near Meeteetse.
"Unless the audience sits through the credits, they’re going to assume it’s Wyoming," said Michell Howard of the Wyoming Film Office. "This has a great impact on us."
