Public Lands Month 2022: The Wrap – Backcountry Hunters & Anglers

Backcountry Hunters and Anglers

We hope you enjoyed Public Lands Month – the stories, the giveaways, and the opportunities to raise your voice in support of our lands and waters. Now that the dust has settled, we’ve had a chance to evaluate the impacts of your hard work last month. And we have some exciting numbers to share with you:

2,250

That’s how many of you joined BHA’s membership base in September. Every voice matters, and we need yours! From corner crossing in Wyoming and the battle for elk tags in New Mexico to public lands access in Tennessee, you are all part of the next incredible chapter in BHA’s fight to keep public lands, waters, and wildlife in public hands.

$23,645

That’s how much we raised to fight this Wyoming corner crossing case. Thank you for putting your money where your mouth is to support the four Missouri public land hunters facing these egregious charges. This is a battle we can’t stand by and idly watch: We have to get in there, and our members are putting their shoulders to the wheel for it. The legislative session is next, and we all will need to stay vigilant.

150 million

That’s how many people saw stories about what BHA members are doing for public lands and waters conservation, for public access, and for fair chase all over North America. From Colorado to Chicago, your efforts are making a difference!

2,016

Our voices matter, and that’s the number of times you all sent a message to your elected officials telling them to Recover America’s Wildlife, protect the Pittman-Robertson Act, and make sure grasslands are conserved for future generations. Said another way, that’s 67 messages a day. Thank you! Don’t stop! Your voice matters, but only if you use it.

And a huge high five to BHA corporate partners like Dakota Angler, Duck Camp, Far Bank, First Lite, Fishpond, Gerber, Grayl, G&H Decoys, Hest, Mountain Top Motors, Nemo Equipment, NRS, Royal Canin, Sage Fly Fishing, Seek Outside, Skwala, Vortex, Wenonah, Weston and Work Sharp. These companies enabled us to be even more impactful this September.

What’s next?

BHA remains laser focused on upholding the places, experiences and values that make us whole. But we can’t do it without you!

How can you better support the lands, waters, fish and wildlife that are so crucial to who we are and what we do? How can you ensure that our public lands legacy continues for the next generation to experience and enjoy?

Not a BHA member? Join today. Already a member? Support our work on behalf of your opportunities to hunt and fish on public lands and waters across North America!

Thanks for being part of the BHA community. We have much yet to do together.

Go, Fight, Win!
