NorthWestern Energy commemorates history of more than 100 years of hydro power in Montana with release of ‘Golden Kilowatts’
October 1, 2021 /
It was about 85 years, one lifetime, from 1805 when the Lewis and Clark Expedition made the difficult 18-mile portage around a series of five waterfalls, the Great Falls of the Missouri River, until electricity flowed in the young city of Great Falls, said Montana Historical Society’s Denise King.
The generation source of that electricity, hydro plants on the Missouri and other rivers in Montana, continues to energize the Treasure State today.
