Mountain Munchies Cuts Costs and Boosts Efficiency with Expert Help – Montana Manufacturing Extension Center

Maddie McGee’s Mountain Munchies cut costs and boosted efficiency through expert collaboration.
Founded in 2023 by Chris McGee in Bozeman, this pet treat manufacturer partnered with MMEC and Montana State University’s Pollution Prevention Program to refine its processes. Their cooperation exemplifies how targeted advisory and sustainability efforts can reshape small manufacturing operations.
By engaging MMEC’s Senior Business Advisor and university interns to assess energy use and waste management, Mountain Munchies reduced operational expenses while adhering to zero-waste principles. Chris McGee acknowledged MMEC’s straightforward guidance as pivotal in transforming the business into a more profitable and organized enterprise. MMEC also supports the local manufacturing sector with training, articles on financial discipline, and upcoming workshops planned for July. Meanwhile, the Montana Department of Commerce continues to promote export assistance and trade missions through 2026.
Registration for MMEC’s “Ready or Not?” operational strategy workshops opens soon, following a series of May and June webinars and training events.
