Montana’s public lands at risk: A threat to hunters and heritage

The new administration’s disregard for public lands starkly contrasts Montana’s proud tradition of community-led conservation.

The stakes for Montana couldn’t be higher. If the Trump administration’s plans come to fruition, popular places to hunt and fish could be fragmented or lost. Trail systems and campsites could be overshadowed by industrial development. And the outdoor recreation economy that sustains local communities and more than 30,000 jobs could collapse under the weight of these changes.

Montana’s history shows that a better path is possible. We must build on our tradition of collaborative conservation to defend our public lands and the economy they support. By standing together, Montanans can resist these threats and ensure that our lands remain a shared treasure for generations to come.
