Montana Nonprofit Association Adds Brad Robinson to Staff as Member Services Director to Increase Benefits to Nonprofit Sector

Brian Magee, Executive Director of the Montana Nonprofit Association (MNA) announced today that he has hired Brad Robinson as Member Services Director. Robinson brings both for-profit and non-profit work experience to this position. Robinson was a founder and manager of Big Sky Brewing Company, Montana’s largest brewery, and most recently worked as the Executive Director of the Montana Natural History Center (MNHC) in Missoula.

During his tenure at MNHC he moved the organization from leasing a small office at Fort Missoula to owning a 10,000 square foot educational center and museum near downtown Missoula. Robinson has a long history of nonprofit involvement through Boards and community groups.

“MNA is focused on strengthening the nonprofit sector in Montana through a variety of means including discounted programs and services, networking and professional development opportunities, and advocacy for the nonprofit sector,” said Magee.

“Bringing in a Member Services Director will allow us to do even more for the sector. We have a growing array of products and services already and I am excited that Brad is on board to ensure that more Montana nonprofits can take advantage of them.”

The nonprofit sector is large, diverse, and critically important to Montana’s economy and vibrant communities. The Montana Nonprofit Sector Report published last year by MNA indicated that Montana’s nonprofits contributed an estimated 2.5 billion to the state’s economy in 2002. That figure represents approximately 11% of Montana’s gross state product.

“If MNA can save organizations on their administrative costs through discounted services such as directors and officers, unemployment, or health insurance, that provides nonprofits with more money to put towards their mission,” says Robinson. “That’s just one area where MNA is working hard to help organizations become more efficient.”

Founded in 2001, MNA is a membership organization of 215 nonprofits with over 5,000 employees that promotes a stronger nonprofit sector, supportive public climate, and the ability of nonprofits to accomplish their missions. Representing the richness and diversity of the sector, MNA members address a broad array of missions, come from all four corners of the state, and range in size from the largest organizations to the smallest unstaffed nonprofits.

Nonprofit organizations with a 501(c)(3) status from the federal government are eligible for membership in the MNA and can take advantage of MNA’s numerous member benefits. Associate memberships are also available to any individual, business or other exempt organization that wants to support this sector of Montana’s business environment.
