Montana Government Audit: Several state retirement accounts remain unconstitutional
July 12, 2015 /
Several retirement accounts for select state employees continue to violate the Montana Constitution, according to the recent audit of last year’s state finances http://leg.mt.gov/content/Publications/Audit/Report/13-01B.pdf .
The retirement accounts for sheriffs, highway patrol officers, game wardens and peace officers aren’t considered financially sound, according to standard accounting benchmarks.
The deficiency does not have any immediate effect on retirees depending on these accounts, but is still a concern for those agencies.
